What is Krishna Consciousness?

It is very hard to summarize thousands of generations of knowledge into one web page. However, we hope to give you the basics.

Many times, people tend to jump right to the advanced aspect of their organization, sometimes leaving out the introduction. However, SoulConnection will not leave anyone behind, as our goal is to collectively move forward. 

Whether  you are Christian, Mulslim, Jewish, Hindu, Buddhist, Agnostic, or just plain curious, this page will have something that can help you further yourself in that aspect of your multifaceted life. 

Who is Krishna?

Krishna is the Supreme Personality of Godhead. In other words, He is God. In other religions, He goes by many other names:

Allah

God

Rama

They're really all the same. In Krishna Consciousness, the purpose is to love God. This makes Krishna Consciousness a "religion" for all religions. Krishna literally means "all attractive," and God is supposed to be just that.

The Basics:

 Krishna Consciousness is not merely contained within these little bullet points. However, if you read them, you will get a much better understanding of why we do what we do...

• We wear devotional clothing and tilaka (the clay marking on the forehead) to show that our body is a temple, and should be purified within and without.

• Chanting (using the tulasi [wood from the Holy Basil plant] beads) is a type of mantra meditation. Instead of focusing on nothing, we concentrate our attention on Krishna, God Himself.

• Congregational chanting (going out into the streets and singing with drums and cymbals) is another part of spreading the message. Even hearing the singing can help improve your mood, introduce you to ISKCON, and help alleviate any stress caused by material life.
